Client Overview

West of Moree, P&J Harris & Sons operates a diverse mixed farming business spanning cotton, grain, and a sheep and beef feedlot. During peak periods, multiple operations run in parallel, with no margin for inefficiency.

Managing cottonseed exiting the gin had become a bottleneck. Without adequate on-site storage, product would back up fast, putting pressure on harvest timing, gin throughput and the broader workflow of the operation. P&J Harris & Sons needed storage that could absorb the volume coming out of the gin and keep the wider business moving.

P&J Harris & Sons now operates with 24,000 tonnes of on-site cottonseed storage across two structures, taking cottonseed straight from the gin into storage and eliminating the double handling that had constrained the operation. The capacity gives the business breathing room through peak periods and supports consistent product movement from harvest through to feed.
