Spicer Trading, the parent company of CQ Building Supplies, is a leading manufacturer of frames and trusses in Marlborough Queensland, with strong ties to the Bundaberg area and a reputation for quality and innovation.

Challenge:

The old facility was located on a floodplain, and faced frequent flooding and inefficiencies. Due to its fractured layout, the factory was lacking space and ill-equipped for robotics and a future with AI plant and equipment. CEO Chris Curtis remarked, “Every time it rains, we have to hold our breath.” A new, consolidated facility was essential to support growth and technological advancement.

Solution:

A larger factory with a front-end office on higher ground. Key features include:

• 50-Metre Clears-pan Design: “It’s a big clear-span building, which is amazing—we could get 50 metres clear-span. You don’t get that if you’ve got poles in the middle of buildings and the like, so we’re excited about that.”
