The Entegra story is one that is built on foundations of honest work and innovation. We have transcended from a humble 40 ft. by 40 ft. office to nationwide design and construction; and we take immense pride in sharing our journey with you.
THE BEGINNING
1986 – 1989
Our story starts in the year 1986 in Swan Hill Victoria. Times were tough, the future did not look overly promising, cash and capital were scarce commodities.
Swan Hill Engineering was conceived as an all-out effort to get ahead with the clear possibility of failure ever present, many critics saying it wouldn’t work and commenting that 70% of start-ups fail. The team remained optimistic, committing to hard work and a motivation to succeed.
MANUFACTURING KICK-OFF
AT BRICKWORKS
1990 – 1996
As time progressed, the poor ethical standards present in the industry became obvious which created a clear need for the team to begin making our own structures. This starts out of the old 40 foot by 40 foot Swan Hill brickworks building. Roughly a year after manufacturing has begun the owner is inspired by an idea and the first ever building is erected with the ‘roof-lift’ method, which today remains an internationally recognised building method. Swan Hill Engineering seeks out addition labour resources in the form of family, as the business steadily grows throughout this period.
CONTINUED PROGRESSION
AND EXPANSION
1997 – 2006
As the business and customer base grew, more space was required. A new premises was built promptly, progress was slow but steady nonetheless. In 1999, we built our first 50m clear span building and after 2000 growth started to clearly accelerate. More space was needed again, and we decided to build a new building with future capacity in mind, before acquiring the neighboring property and opting for extensions.
NEW GENERATION
BRINGS A FRESH SPARK
2007 – 2015
The next generation of the family joins, which brings a renewed energy and drive to the team. When tough times hit in 2008 we chose to keep our staff and try to target government funded projects to minimise losses. In 2011, we were chosen by the Australian Government to build one of the few structures in Antarctica – a helicopter hangar at Davis Station. In 2013, our new curved design for Equine Arena rooflines was starting to become noticed and gained momentum in the market. Additional staff are added and growth continues. The following year in 2014 the revolutionary Ridgeback™ is born, and we land our first project over $7M.
THE ENTEGRA ERA
2015 – FUTURE
In 2015 Swan Hill Engineering progresses and rebrands to become Entegra Signature Structures. The change broadens our horizons and enables market opportunities further afield and even overseas. 2015 also sees the company double in size, as we really start focusing on systems and software to be able to stay competitive whilst remain family oriented. 2016 we build another new premises, and continue to grow. It’s our 30th anniversary and we are going to make it a good one! The future is bright and we would love for you to become part of it!
